Gordon Becker
Artist Statement:
In my work, I combine rough, spontaneous wood construction with the meticulous craftsmanship of a master wood carver, to create life-size sculptures that reflect the dynamism, grace, and pain of the dance.
Depicted in the earliest cave paintings, flight has been the carrier of desire. Dancers, in their brief transcendence over gravity, are the embodiment of our dreams of flight.
